Missile strike damages Zagros Satellite Channel office in Baghdad

The Office of the Zakros Channel was damaged by a rocket attack on the Green Zone.

Press Freedom Advocacy Association in Iraq learned from the channel’s correspondent Mohammed al-Qaisithat the rockets may have targeted the Green Zone, not the channel, but caused serious damage when it landed near Zakros channel building, which is located inside the government compound, without causing any human casualties.

While the association wishes safety to the colleagues working for the channel, it holds the government and its security services responsible for protecting the media and its employees, especially since this type of targeting constitutes a flagrant violation of the freedom of journalistic work.

The association also calls on the interior minister to put an end to repeated targeting of the media and its staff.
