After Sulaimaniya protests, KNN and NRT correspondents attacked

On the background of the protests that were lately surging Sulaimaniya, and some parts of Erbil, Kurdish Security forces arrested KNN correspondent Abu Bakr Hussein, and NRT correspondent Taha Aladnani was shotduring their coverage of the demonstrations.

Representatives of Press Freedom Advocacy Association in Iraq confirmed the above mentioned information and that Aladnani was targeted with tears gas and accordingly was carried to the nearest hospital in Sulaimaniya. Meanwhile, Kurdish Security forces circled NRT building claiming protection.

At the time that Press Freedom Advocacy Association in Iraq condemns targeting media operating personnel, by violating Iraqi constitutional laws and regulations,8it demands that correspondent Abu Bakr Hussain be immediately released and wishes fast recovery for Aladnani. Again, the Association stresses that these actions are considered dire violations of the Iraqi constitution that secured press and media freedoms.
