Security\nforces tasked with protecting the security of Basra University have prevented\nthe media from entering to cover the protest stand on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ahmed Majid,\na member of staff of Almirbed told Press Freedom Advocacy Association in Iraq\nthat the campus security prevented Nour Altimimi, correspondent and the\ncameraman of Almirbed channel from entering the university for covering the\nstudents protest as it did with other media groups that reached the scene at\ndifferent times. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adding that “He\ncontacted university media officer Salem al-Uqaby to find out the reasons for\nthe ban, which revealed instructions issued by the provincial operations\ncommand to prevent journalists from entering the university and cover these\nprotests”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Press\nFreedom Advocacy Association in Iraq strongly rejects the ban on journalists\nfrom carrying out their duties, especially since the measure violates the\nConstitution and freedom of journalism in the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nassociation calls on the relevant authorities and security forces in the\nprovince to deal with journalists in accordance with the law and the\nconstitution, show flexibility, and allow the media to deliver the reality of\nthe protests that have erupted in the provinces recently.\n\nThe association also calls on the government to\nstop the despotic measures imposed against the media and the attempts to\nprevent it from covering events.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
