Dhi Qar Police detained a reporter of\nSubul Alsalam Radio, while covering the fire incident at the Nasiriyah Teaching\nHospital in the Province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The Dhi Qar police arrested Safaa\nal-Kanani when he was on a press mission to cover the fire, which broke out at\nal-Hussein Teaching Hospital on Tuesday evening in the center of the province”\na radio worker told the Press Freedom Advocacy \nAssociation in Iraq.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Safaa al-Kanani went to al-Hussein\nhospital, which is near his home, to film the first moments of the fire that\nhit the hospital late Tuesday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At \nthe time that the Press Freedom\nAdvocacy Association in Iraq condemns\nthe detention of fellow journalist Safaa al-Kanani, which is a clear violation\nof the principles of the constitution, it confirms the government’s tendency to\nsuppress the freedom of journalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The association also calls on the\nsecurity services in Dhi Qar to stop detaining journalists for reporting the\nevents, on charges of performing their professional duties, and observing the\nstandards of press and media freedom in Iraq.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
