Security forces beat the head of the\nOffice of the Kurdish Channel NRT in Kirkuk on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The director of the channel’s office\nin Kirkuk, Fakhr eddin, told the Press Freedom Advocacy Association in Iraq\nthat he was on a press mission with the channel’s correspondent Diar Mohammed\nand cameraman Ali Nordi, to cover the demonstration organized by the residents\nof al-Nasr neighborhood, near the maternity hospital in the area; rejecting the\ndecision of the Kirkuk Health Directorate to allocate this hospital as a quarantine\nfor Corona patients in the center of a residential city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He pointed out that one of the\nsecurity agents beat him and insulted him, and asked him to leave the place\nimmediately, as soon as the staff arrived at the scene of the demonstration,\nand asked the security elements to start filming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Association considers the\nincident a flagrant constitutional violation that breaches the principles of\npress and media freedom in Iraq.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The association also calls on the\nsecurity forces in Kirkuk to open an investigation into the incident, hold\naccountable the force that had beaten the journalists, and stop using unfair\nprocedures to prevent the media from carrying out its duties.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
