Hasan Sabah, correspondent for Baghdad Alyoum\nchannel in Basra was arrested by Basra Intelligence on the background of\npublishing reports that covered cases of corruption and manipulation of the\nprovince\u2019s real estates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sabah told\nPress Freedom Advocacy Association in Iraq that an intelligence force arrested\nhim when he was on his way to work in Almerbad police station for five hours.\nHe wasn\u2019t released before signing a\ncommitment paper not to publish any reports about certain issues and to pay a\nbail.t is to be mentioned that our colleague Hasan Sabah has been threatened\nlately by anonymous sides, after he published a several reports that exposed\nhow the type of land lots were altered and seized to build shopping malls after\nthey have been allocated for school buildings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Press Freedom Advocacy Association in Iraq condemns the acts exercised\nagainst co-journalist Hasan without a warrant and this is considered a dire\nviolation to the constitution that secured press freedom in the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The association demands also that Basra Security Forces refrain from\narresting journalists, obstructing their duty against the terms of the\nconstitution and legislature, protecting press cadres and cooperating with them\nduring carrying out their duties in the province in adherence with the\nstipulations of the Iraqi constitution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
