A security\nforce from Anbar province’s operations command prevented Reuters correspondent\nKamal al-Ayash from passing through the province on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Al-Ayash said\nin a telephone conversation with the Press Freedom Advocacy Association in Iraq:\nthat on his way back from work to Fallujah, he was intercepted by Al-Suqour\ncheckpoint in Anbar province and prevented from passing through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ayash said\nthe security forces refused to talk to him and let him pass, although he showed\nthem his IDs and the book of operations, and told them he was a reporter for\nReuters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ayyash\ncomplained to the association about the ill-treatment he was subjected to by these\nforces, after he was held for three hours at the entrance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Press Freedom\nAdvocacy Association in Iraq condemns what fellow journalist Kamal al-Ayash has\nbeen subjected to, and considers it a violation of the freedom of journalistic work\nin the country. The association\nexpresses its astonishment at these actions, in conjunction with the decisions\nof the crisis cell recently issued, that excluded the media persons from the quarantine\nregulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nassociation calls on the Ministry of Interior to instruct those who work under\nits orders to comply with the decisions issued by the country’s highest\nauthorities, particularly in times of crisis, and to observe laws that allow\nthe press and the media to enjoy freedom of mobility.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
