Security forces in <\/span><\/span>Duhok<\/span><\/span> raided the office of the NRT television channel and arrested all its employees shortly after the channel’s team was detained for covering demonstrations in <\/span><\/span>Duhok<\/span><\/span>on Wednesday to protest the deteriorating living and service<\/span><\/span>s<\/span><\/span> situation.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The channels manager, <\/span><\/span>Omeid<\/span><\/span> Muhammed informed Press Freedom Advocacy Association in Iraq <\/span><\/span>that <\/span><\/span>their correspondent <\/span><\/span>Beryar<\/span><\/span> Mahmoud and cameraman <\/span><\/span>Abdulwahab<\/span><\/span> Benjamen<\/span><\/span> were detained by <\/span><\/span>Asayesh<\/span><\/span> forces dur<\/span><\/span>ing the covering of the protest, adding that<\/span><\/span> Another force raided the channel’s office and detained their office <\/span><\/span>M<\/span><\/span>anager (<\/span><\/span>Biwar<\/span><\/span> Helmi<\/span><\/span> Noureddine<\/span><\/span>) and all colleagues working there without ment<\/span><\/span>ioning the reasons, namely, Montage editor <\/span><\/span>Ryw<\/span><\/span>ar<\/span><\/span> Ali Saleh, \u00a0the receptionist Ahmad <\/span><\/span>Adnan Khalid, and service driver Sharif Mohammed Salim.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

He said the authorities <\/span><\/span>detained<\/span><\/span> six colleagues<\/span><\/span>without any warrants and were only released<\/span><\/span>shortly before the text of <\/span><\/span>this<\/span><\/span> statement was written.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Press Freedom<\/span><\/span> Advocacy Association in Iraq <\/span><\/span>calls on the regional authorities to stop harassing journalists, which is a flagrant violation of the Constitution and a clear <\/span><\/span>breach<\/span><\/span> of international treaties signed by the <\/span><\/span>KRG<\/span><\/span> authorities and <\/span><\/span>abided to<\/span><\/span> by them<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The association calls on the federal government to intervene to stop the series of abuses against journalists in the province by the authorities there, particularly since the arrests were carried out without a<\/span><\/span>ny<\/span><\/span> warrant.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
