A video taken by a citizen showed members of the Basra governor’s office, <\/span><\/span>Asaad<\/span><\/span> al-<\/span><\/span>Aidani<\/span><\/span>, dictating the crew of al-<\/span><\/span>Iraqiya<\/span><\/span> TV, and preventing them from meeting with citizens and <\/span><\/span>clients<\/span><\/span> of the provincial building.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Press<\/span><\/span> Freedom Advocacy Association<\/span><\/span> received a copy of a video posted on social media sites, showing al-<\/span><\/span>Iraqiya<\/span><\/span> TV<\/span><\/span> reporter in Basra Mohammed Nasser inside the provincial office talking to a citizen about <\/span><\/span>the <\/span><\/span>Diwan<\/span><\/span> Employees’ attitude with customers<\/span><\/span>, <\/span><\/span>while<\/span><\/span>during the meeting, members of the <\/span><\/span>Security<\/span><\/span> of the governor’s office stormed the camera site, cut off the citizen’s conversation with the reporter, and asked the citizen to delete the meeting from his mobile phone.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, the channel’s correspondent Mohamed Nasser denied in a telephone call to the association that members of the <\/span><\/span>Security<\/span><\/span> prevented them from covering, contrary to what appears <\/span><\/span>on <\/span><\/span>video, and that the <\/span><\/span>security personnel<\/span><\/span> only asked the staff <\/span><\/span>f<\/span><\/span> to allow <\/span><\/span>or a permit to authorize their work.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Press Freedom<\/span><\/span> Advocacy Association<\/span><\/span> in Iraq condemns this unjustified interference by security associates and <\/span><\/span>their violation of <\/span><\/span>freedom of information, the press <\/span><\/span>function <\/span><\/span>and freedom of expression<\/span><\/span> that is<\/span><\/span> guaranteed by the constitution.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The association calls on all members of the security forces to abide <\/span><\/span>to<\/span><\/span> their duties<\/span><\/span>;<\/span><\/span> to protect the citizen and preserve the constitution, instead of violating it by depriving the citizen the freedom to express <\/span><\/span>an<\/span><\/span> opinion and convey <\/span><\/span>ongoing<\/span><\/span> events to the media.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
