Baghdad correspondent Mohammed al-<\/span><\/span>Awad<\/span><\/span>confirmed to Press Freedom<\/span><\/span> SAdvocacy<\/span><\/span> Association<\/span><\/span> in Iraq the arrest of his colleagues in the channel Mohammed al-<\/span><\/span>Zuhairi<\/span><\/span>, Ali <\/span><\/span>Jassim<\/span><\/span>, Abbas al-Delphi while covering the demonstrations that began today in front of the Headquarters of the Kurdistan Party in central Baghdad.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, during the demonstration, <\/span><\/span>Security elements<\/span><\/span> detained <\/span><\/span>iNews<\/span><\/span> correspondent Ibrahim al-Mahmoud, cameraman Mohammed Sami, <\/span><\/span>Rudaw<\/span><\/span>Hilkot<\/span><\/span> Aziz and cameraman <\/span><\/span>Khattab<\/span><\/span> al-<\/span><\/span>Ajami<\/span><\/span>, <\/span><\/span>confiscated<\/span><\/span> their equipment, took them to an unknown destination and released them three hours later.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Association condemns the detention of journalists without<\/span><\/span> any<\/span><\/span> legal basis, a violation and a clear legal <\/span><\/span>abuse<\/span><\/span>, especially since the presence of the press near any demonstration or event indicates their coverage and not their participation.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
