A security force detained <\/span><\/span>R<\/span><\/span>udaw<\/span><\/span> tv<\/span><\/span> staff while on duty in Sinjar district on Wednesday morning.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Channel reporter <\/span><\/span>Hiwa<\/span><\/span> Helmaldin<\/span><\/span> told the Press Freedom <\/span><\/span>Advocacy Association <\/span><\/span>in Iraq that armed men in military uniforms detained their correspondent <\/span><\/span>Tahsin<\/span><\/span> Qassem<\/span><\/span> and <\/span><\/span>cameraman<\/span><\/span> Nayef<\/span><\/span> Edo, while covering the security situation in Sinjar, adding that the force that detained the colleagues claimed to belong to the popular <\/span><\/span>mobilization<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The force also seized the team’s equipment after they took the colleagues to Tal Afar district, and they were not released until the time of writing, <\/span><\/span>Hiwa<\/span><\/span> said.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Press Freedom<\/span><\/span> Advocacy Association<\/span><\/span> condemns the detention of journalists, which violates the freedom of <\/span><\/span>press<\/span><\/span> and media workers in the country, and<\/span><\/span> is<\/span><\/span> a constitutional violation.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The association calls on the Ministry<\/span><\/span> of Interior<\/span><\/span> to identify the <\/span><\/span>wherabouts<\/span><\/span> of the journalists’ detention, release them immediately and provide protection to media cadres in the line of duty.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
