Members of the army forces in Sinjar arrested a reporter and cameraman of the channel “<\/span>Chira<\/span>TV<\/span>” <\/span>along <\/span>with their driver, on Monday evening<\/span>.<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Press Freedom<\/span> Advocacy Association<\/span> in Iraq learned from its sources in <\/span>the district<\/span> that the force arrested the reporter and photographer “<\/span>Jajar<\/span> Shalaki<\/span> and <\/span>Gilan<\/span> Hababi<\/span>“, and their driver “Fares <\/span>Jassim<\/span>” in the center of the town of Sinjar, while they were crossing one of the checkpoints in the <\/span>district.<\/span> T<\/span>hey were stopped by an army force, and arrested without knowing the reasons. He pointed out tha<\/span>t the staff was released, after<\/span> more than two hours<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The source added that the channel’s office tried to contact an army official to find out the reason for the detention, but <\/span>no answer was reached<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the time that<\/span> the Association condemns the arrest of journalists by the army forces in Sinjar, without <\/span>any<\/span> charge<\/span>s<\/span>, it considers the adoption by the Iraqi security forces of various <\/span>types<\/span> unjustified violations<\/span> while<\/span> dealing with <\/span>journalists,<\/span> a frightening decline in the field<\/span> of freedom of journalistic work in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

The association reminds the security <\/span>forces that they are obliged<\/span> to providing the necessary protection and maintaining security in the <\/span>Sinjar<\/span>, not arresting journalists, or detaining them to hinder the performance of their <\/span>duty<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

It also calls on the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to break <\/span>the ring of<\/span> silence <\/span>concerning the<\/span>\u00a0violations against journalists across the country<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
