Unidentified gunmen assassinated the director of Media “Janabi Group” and one of the supervisors of al-Rasheed Tv, Nizar Dhanoun on Tuesday morning in Baghdad.
Unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle fired shots at fellow Nizar Dhanoun as he left his home in Al-jamia district in the morning, and he died instantly, said Omar al-Hilali, coordinator of Press Freedom Advocacy Association in Iraq.
The Association condemns the assassination of colleague Nizar Dhanoun, and considers the incident a dire violation of press freedom.
The association also calls on the Ministry of Interior and the competent agencies to open an urgent investigation into the incident, reveal who is responsible for the killing of journalists, and hand them over to the judiciary to receive their just punishment.
