Anbar Council Shuts Down Dijlah Office after Document Disclosure

An insider source from Dijlah Satellite Channel confirmed that Anbar Provincial Council decided to close down the channel’s offices in the province on the background of its release of recordings and documents that prove the involvement of senior officials of smuggling oil to ISIS.

The source said that the channel refuses this action that is deprived of any authenticity; no local power holds the right to ban a media body from operating in a certain Iraqi province. The issue, if proved by any chance illegal, should be addressed by Media and Communications Commission.

At the time that the association condemns the act of the provincial council, it considers it a dire violation to Iraqi and international constitutions and valid agreements. The association questions the province about the nature of its powers since it is acting as if it were an independent state.

The Association calls on the Federal Government to interfere in order to abolish this decision and to instantly re-open these offices.
