Sumaria correspondent attacked during Wasit demonstrations

Ali Alaboudy, Sumariya Channel correspondent, was attacked by security forces during covering PM Haidar Alibadi visit to Wasit after the demonstrations that erupted by the students of its University.

Alaboudy added that riot police that he was attacked by confiscated his mobile phone during his coverage and tried to beat him, but he finally managed to escape.

The force banned any media from covering the incident or shooting any pictures being by cameras or mobile phones.

At the time that Press Freedom Advocacy Association condemns the attack that Alaboudy was subjected to, it calls upon security officials to direct their staff not to attack media personnel or journalists during similar incidents. And demands that PM Haidar Alibadi holds his security guards accountable since they took part in banning coverage and attacking press.
