Husaini shrine administration banned Alsharqiya channel from covering a conference held by Head of Badr Organization, Hadi Alameri. Faisal Alqreitti, Sharqiya Correspondent in Karbalaa, told Press Freedom Advocacy Association that the channels logo was suddenly removed from the forum of the event that took place in Freiha in Alamiri’s Press conference.
Alqreitti, confirmed that he had received an invitation from the organization’s media unit for coverage, and that they tried to make things work out to have the correspondent cover the event. The coverage was banned by the Husaini shrine administration. And accordingly it is a pressing demand to clarify their attitude towards the correspondence and the channel as well. It is also required to apologize about this ambiguous attitude.
At the time that Press Freedom Advocacy Association in Iraq condemns the attitude of the Husaini Administration and demands that all causes be revealed. Since considers it a clear violation to Iraqi laws and constitution that secures freedom of press in Iraq. Adding that the correspondent should be provided with a proper apology for being insulted in front of his colleagues.
The association forwards a clear question: does the administration of the visitors’ city hold its own standards and does is function separately from the shrine’s administration that never recorded such an incident before.
