DG Shaker Niima and his private security attacked the team of Almasar Al-oula satellite channel staff, during covering the objection process of the final secondary exams results, held by the students and their parents.
Amir alKhafaji , correspondent at the channel, told Press Freedom Advocacy Association in Iraq that the official directed his security to attack the team that in addition to him included cameraman Walaa Amir and assistant Aqeel Kareem. the team was surprised by being beaten and abused at the time that their equipment was taken away.
it is worth mentioning that the team was invited by MOE’s media Department to cover the press conference that was scheduled to be held to explain the mechanisms adopted by the ministry to reach the results. The association demands strict procedures be adopted to stop these aggressions against the press family.
