Dijlah Channel banned from shooting in Basrah Hospital

Dijlah Channel cadre was prohibited from shooting inside Bin Ghazwan hospital in the middle of Basrah under the excuse that they have no permission to do so.

Alaa Alrubayii, correspondent, said that a number of the hospital’s staff banned the team from shooting a critical case of a child suffering from HIV. The incident took place in spite of calling Dr. Riyadh Abdulamir, Basrah Health Director.

Alrubayii said that the child’s parents pleaded the security forces to let the team in, but Dr. Nisreen the manager, said that Friday is the doctors’ day off.  He added that coverage is not easy when it comes to reflect on the deteriorating situation that the health sector is witnessing in Basra; poor services and supplies. He added that doors should be open to media to expose the suffering of the public that is intolerable any more.

At the time that Press Freedom Advocacy Association in Iraq demands concerned sides not to limit press action in Basra nor block them from covering vital files and issues, it demands that an investigation be held to expose the details of the incident.
