A photojournalist (Nabil Al Jourani), who works for the Ap news agency, was hit by security forces firing teargas at protesters in front of the Basra Governorate building on Friday, and a correspondent for Al-Murbud was suffocated in the same rally.

Sources told Press Freedom Advocacy Association in Iraq, that the condition of the colleague (Nabil Jouarni), is improving after providing the necessary aid which followed dragging him from the demonstration area.

The Association wishes the photographer (Nabil Al Jourani) a soon recovery and calls on the leaders of the security services in Basra to direct their elements not to target the journalistic cadres who are performing their duties.
