Ruz News correspondent Mohammed Hassan Ibrahim was injured during the protest sit-in in Sulaimania province on Sunday.
The injured told Press Freedom AdvocacyAssociaion in Iraq that he was shot while covering the demonstrations that started in the District, protesting the deteriorating economic and service conditions and delaying the payment of salaries in the province, adding that the bullet hit him in the back and caused minor injuries.
Mohammed said the protesters helped him and provided him with the necessary First Aid.
At the time that Press Freedom Advocacy Association in Iraq wishes safety to the fellow journalist, it considers the incident a clear violation of the constitutionally guaranteed freedom of journalistic and media work in the country.
The association also calls on the authorities in the region to stop using force against protesters and journalists, and reminds media cadres of the need to exercise caution while on protest grounds and to limit action within safe spaces.
