The Press Freedom Advocacy Association in Iraq offers condolences to the journalist family, and all local and international research centers, for the martyrdom of the journalist and security researcher Hisham Al-Hashemi, who was caught by treachery this evening in Baghdad.
Al-Hashemi has participated in many security researches and has produced hundreds of security research and journal articles. In addition, he had important and courageous stances during the war on ISIS, and he was proactive in information and important and objective security analysis, presenting a unique effort to the security and intelligence forces.
The association stresses that the government’s slowdown in prosecuting murder groups and human rights violators has caused the assassination series to continue.
The association calls on the Minister of Interior, Othman Al-Ghanimi and the Prime Minister- the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, to assume their responsibilities in uncovering the killers of the martyr Al-Hashemi and those standing behind them, and to bring them to justice in order to receive their just retribution, and not to be satisfied with statements of denunciations and condolences, as it did with the assassination of Ahmed Abdel Samad and Safa Ghali.
