A security force detained Rasim Saidi , Correspondent for Dijla Channel in Dhi Qar, while covering the protests on Monday morning.
Press Freedom Advocacy Association in Iraq received an audio message from the reporter confirming his detention after a while on the scene of demonstrations in Dhi Qar . He was prevented from coverage by police officers, and then severely beaten, and is currently being held by the army forces who are in charge of protecting the site of the protesters’ gathering.
Press Freedom Advocacy Association in Iraq wishes safety to the fellow journalist, and considers his arrest a violation of the freedom of press work and an infringement of the principles of the Iraqi Constitution.
The association calls on the security services in Dhi Qar to release the journalist immediately, stop attacking journalists on duty and to comply with the Constitution.
