Al-Nasiriya TV reporter injured by sniper fire in Fallujah

Al-Nasiriyah News Agency and TV channel reporter, Waleed Kareem, sustained serious injuries due to sniper’s fire, near Fallujah in Anbar province.
Representative of Press Freedom Advocacy Association, said that Kareem was shot in his left hand by fire of a sniper during on ground coverage of the battle near Fallujah to the west of Baghdad, adding that Kareem was immediately carried to the nearest hospital for medication. He assured that Kareem passed the critical condition and is underway towards recovery.
At the time that Press Freedom Advocacy Association in Iraq expresses its grave concern towards Kareems health and wellbeing, the Association calls all military reporters to be careful and alert by taking all possible safety measures to avoid any attack. The Association also calls all media institutions to hold their reporters away from battlefields unless receiving proper military coverage training; considering these measures obligatory to ensure journalists’ safety.
